Make a Mark at these workshops

Event description

You are invited to Stockton Brook Waterworks to celebrate The Big Draw Festival 2026. We are excited to be part of this wonderful celebration of drawing, and look forward to welcoming you all during the weekend of the 17th and 18th of October to draw with us at our community event.

The Big Draw Festival is the world’s largest celebration of drawing, bringing people together through the power of creativity, and this year's theme is -

Make a Mark!

This year's Festival celebrates drawing not only as a visual language, but a form of playful inquiry, reflection and expression!

Drop in to experiment at our mark-making stations, contribute to a colourful wall of marks, draw from a beautiful nature table in the Engine Hall of the Waterworks and book a free place at one of our creative drawing workshops with artists, Mark Delf, Jane James, Andrea Durrant and Louise Adams. All materials are provided, and refreshments are available for a donation.Stockton Brook Time & Space CIC was set up in 2020 to create a community centre for Art, Nature & Heritage at Stockton Brook Waterworks, a magnificent Victorian Water Pumping Station built in 1884 to provide clean water to the people of Staffordshire, situated in a green oasis by the Caldon Canal. The surrounding nature reserve is open for art & nature events, such as the annual celebration of National Meadows Day, when people come together to draw and paint, go on expert led nature walks, and enjoy the wildflower meadows.

This event is supported with a Creative Community Commission grant from Outside Arts. Thank you!

We do not have heating yet at the Waterworks, so wrap up warm, and wear suitable footwear if you are participating in the Walk & Draw.

There is some parking at the Waterworks and also at the bottom of Moss Hill, and if you are local, you might like to walk here.
