Event description
Nestled in the heart of Hardcastle Crags, Gibson Mill is a historic cotton mill dating from the Industrial Revolution, surrounded by one of Yorkshire’s most beautiful woodland valleys. This October, we are inviting visitors to help create a unique community artwork as part of The Big Draw. Take inspiration from the views through the mill’s top floor windows, where autumn colours transform the landscape and woodland wildlife thrives. Add your own drawing, pattern, sketch or splash of colour to our collaborative canvas, inspired by the golden leaves, fascinating fungi, and animals that call the woods home.
Sketchbooks will also be available for those who would like to venture into the woods themselves and capture the sights, sounds and textures of the season, or for visitors who are unable to access the top floor of the mill, as there is no lift. Whether you're an experienced artist or simply curious to have a go, everyone is welcome to contribute to this celebration of nature, creativity and community.
Gibson Mill is open daily throughout October from 10am to 4pm, giving plenty of opportunities to take part and add your own mark to our autumn masterpiece.
Free to all. No booking required.
