The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is the UK’s leading open exhibition and awards programme dedicated to contemporary drawing. The 2026 exhibition will open to the public from Thursday 17th September to Sunday 4th October 2026, 11am-6pm daily, free entry, and will then tour until summer 2027. 92 drawings by 86 artists have been shortlisted from an international submission by Matthew Burrows MBE, Sook-Kyung Lee (Director of the Whitworth) and Professor Anita Taylor (University of Dundee).
Shortlisted entries span intimate works on paper to moving image and three-dimensional pieces, tackling everything from social commentary and scientific systems to abstract expression and reimagined worlds
The winners of the £15,000 Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, the £2,000 Student Drawing Award, and the £1,000 Three Boroughs Drawing Award (for artists living or working in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Greenwich) will be announced on Wednesday 16th September.
Accompanying the exhibition will be a fully illustrated Exhibition Publication, an Education Pack, and a public engagement programme including a Symposium on Thursday 17th September at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
Led by founding Director Professor Anita Taylor, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee, and supported by the Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust, the project continues to foster new conversations around the role and value of drawing in contemporary creative practice. The Big Draw is proud to be one of the collaborative partners for the Prize.
