Playful Still Life (The Big Draw)

Release your creativity in this one-day exploratory drawing course, designed to help students establish a connection between observation and creation. Participants will work from a variety of still-life compositions, using different objects as points of reference.

Starting with simple, confidence-building drawing exercises, you’ll experiment with an array of materials such as pencil, charcoal, oil pastels, and inks. Each medium will help you discover the nuances of line, shape and tone.

You will have the opportunity to draw from various perspectives, capturing scenes from interesting angles, and experimenting with different lengths of time for each sketch to keep your practice lively and spontaneous.

Embrace the joy of play as you explore different scales, working towards bold and expressive pieces that encourage your imagination to soar and evolve your artistic voice. We will conclude the day with a collaborative artwork.

The Big Draw Festival is a worldwide celebration of drawing, with events run by organisations big and small across all different sectors bringing people together through the power of creativity.
