Introduction for Educators: Drawing Prize

Art & Design Educators are invited to join Anita Taylor & Chloe Briggs on Thursday 17 September from 6pm to 7pm for this introduction to the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2026 exhibition in the Buoy Store at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London. There will be an introduction free Education Pack by Chloe Briggs who, as Drawing is Free, has devised this pack with Drawing Projects UK.

This is a unique opportunity for teachers and lecturers to be introduced to the exhibition and the free downloadable education pack by artist and educator, Chloe Briggs, and Director of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, Anita Taylor. The fully illustrated publication can also be purchased at this event. To register for this free event, you will need to use a School, College or University email address.

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2026 exhibition will open to the public at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London E14 0JY from Thursday 17th September to Sunday 4th October 2026 before touring to venues across the UK into 2027. A fully illustrated publication, education pack and engagement programme will accompany the exhibition and tour.

Selected by Matthew Burrows MBE, Sook-Kyng Lee, and Anita Taylor, the exhibition includes 92 drawings by 86 artists living and working in the UK (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales), Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Spain, and the USA. The selected drawings represent a diversity of contemporary drawing practice today, from modest and large-format works on paper to moving image and three-dimensional drawings that encompass an array of subject matter and content from observational and documentary drawing, social commentary, exploration of scientific systems, abstract and expressive depictions, storytelling, narratives, and reimagined worlds.

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize has an established reputation as the UK’s most important annual open exhibition for drawing. Founded in 1994 by artist and educator, Anita Taylor, Professor of Fine Art and currently Associate Vice Principal (Research & Innovation) at the University of Dundee. The annual Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize celebrates talent and excellence in current drawing practice. The exhibition provides an important platform for artists and drawing practitioners as a catalyst within their careers, and champions the role, breadth, and value of drawing in creative practice today. The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize is supported by the Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust, and 2026 marks the 9th year of their generous support for the annual open exhibition.
