Event description

Capture the beauty of flight through drawing.

In this hands-on drop-in workshop, participants will explore the art of illustrating airborne creatures, focusing on birds in motion. Using expressive line work and a step-by-step refinement process, you’ll learn how to bring these creatures to life on the page.

Working with dry media such as pencil, charcoal, ink pens, fine liners, coloured pencils, and marker pens, you’ll discover how simple materials can create dynamic, finished artwork.

What to Expect:
The workshop is divided into three creative stages. Start with quick sketches to capture the energy, rhythm, and movement of birds in flight; use a light box to trace and sharpen your initial sketches, transforming loose drawings into clean, confident line work. Finally, apply colour and detail with pencils and markers to complete your winged creature illustration.

Workshop Layout
Sketching Station: A5 paper, pencils, and charcoal for initial drawings.
Light Box Station: Trace your sketches with fine liners to refine your artwork.
Colouring Station: A selection of coloured pencils and markers to bring your final bird drawing to life.

The Drawn to Air Workshop introduces participants to the creative process of refinement, showing how an artwork can evolve from loose sketches to a polished final piece. This structured approach allows you to develop your drawing without erasing or sacrificing the energy of your first marks.

Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, experiment, and take flight on the page.
