Celebrating Black History Month: Make Your Mark! Join our school community artwork project. Part of the Big Draw Festival 2026.

As part of our school's Black History Month Celebration Event, featuring music, food and drink, community stalls, and family activities, this drop-in creative workshop invites members of our school community to contribute to a collaborative artwork inspired by the work of Yinka Shonibare CBE.

Participants will create a colourful patterned design using oil pastels, with individual pieces combined to form a large artwork inspired by Double Dutch (1994). As part of the Big Draw Festival 2026: Make a Mark, the activity celebrates identity, diversity and belonging, creating a lasting piece that reflects the creativity and contributions of our school community. The finished artwork will be displayed after the event.

This event is open to members of our school community, including pupils, parents, carers, families and staff attending our Black History Month celebration.
