We’re delighted to share a series of fun, eco-friendly craft activities designed by Narinder Sagoo, architect, and Patron of The Big Draw. Using simple recycled materials you can find around the home, such as egg boxes, cracker boxes, milk cartons, cereal packets and old newspapers, children (and adults!) can create their own elephant, dinosaur, and giraffe.
Each activity comes with an illustrated step-by-step guide created by Narinder himself, showing how everyday items can be transformed into colourful creatures full of character. These projects are perfect for family craft sessions - all you need is a bit of imagination, some glue, and a few materials bound for the recycling bin!
Narinder’s passion for drawing and making has been at the heart of his life and work:
I have always drawn, as a child discovering the world around me, through studying at school as a way of finding the fun and joy in learning, and as a designer where drawing has allowed me to imagine the unseen – the future! In that sense, the core values of The Big Draw are inseparable from everything I believe in as an artist, designer and vision maker.
Best known for his extraordinary perspective drawings and ability to visualise architectural visions, Narinder Sagoo is a Senior Partner at Foster + Partners, where he has worked for over two decades alongside Lord Foster and other senior partners. His team of artists continue to redefine how we see and feel architecture, capturing not only the look of a space, but its atmosphere and emotional resonance.
As Narinder puts it:
The act of listening to a client results in sketching our interpretation, drawing our ideas and painting our dreams together. Photorealism takes us forward in time to the point of reality, where we can imagine a future far beyond.
Through these playful craft creations, Narinder invites young artists to see the world as he does - full of possibility, creativity, and joy in making.
