Event description
Fifteen slow days, five gentle prompts, and the rhythm of water. Make your mark from anywhere in the world.
Let's rediscover the joy and satisfaction that comes with drawing spirals, waves, rainfall, drops, the kind of repetitive, rhythmic marks that quietly soothe a busy nervous system and let a little held tension flow out and away, with no pressure at all to get it right or make it any particular way. We'll capture the essence of the ways that water moves.
It's a total of five prompts, given during live Zoom calls, spread over fifteen days, with space in between to slowdown and enjoy the making rather than race to keep up.
The in-between days was everyone's favourite part last time.
We meet live in the Zoom Studio for 30 minutes on the five prompt days. That's where we'll draw something together in real time, and I'll give you the prompt for the day.
On the day after each call, you’ll play and explore on your own.
Then you’ll have a few days to gather and draw, and we’ll meet live again for a final celebration on Sunday Nov 1 to see what we have created, and feel into how water has moved us.
Brenda will guide you through in stages: looking and seeing, feeling your way, finding your own flow to make a river, an ocean or a pond. You'll end up with a river heading to the sea ... imagine fractals and patterns. So many of them!
This is not a drawing challenge or a sip &paint. I don't show you how to draw. I give you suggestions on how to find your way, to play, be curious and explore.
Previous participants told me how much freer they felt, how surprised and delighted they were by the process. Because, here, it’s the process that matters, not the end result.
But some were delighted and surprised by what they made when they let go of trying to ‘get it right’.
You cannot get this wrong. It’s an exploration and a time to play again.
Your brain, your body and your emotions will thank you for doing it.
And it may even prompt you to start a daily Flow-Drawing practice for yourself.
And bonus: At the end you'll get a blank calendar to fill up with watery marks as the year moves on.
No art experience needed. I guide you all the way, as you learn to trust the process.
You don't need to have done previous Flow-Drawing Adventures to do this one.

“It has informed & nourished the other artwork I make.”
“loving having this dedicated time to myself each evening”
“It feels very different when there is no outcome and I get to be playful.”
“I definitely feel more grounded, at ease and calmer in navigating life, especially the challenges.”
“I discovered things about myself I never knew”
“This has been an incredible support in my healing and getting to know myself more.”
“I now have hope that there is the possibility to calm the nervous system through Art. It’s a huge discovery for me.”
ORGANISER INFORMATION
Brenda Loukes-Johnson is an artist, the founder of InFlow Project, and a TEDx speaker who believes drawing is for everyone, not just "artists." Through her signature practice, Flow-Drawing, she guides people to use simple mark-making as a creative and somatic tool for calm, connection, and wellbeing, with no experience or talent required - both in-person, online and through her multidisciplinary art practice. Her Flow-Drawing Adventures are gentle, guided online experiences that help you quiet the inner critic, reconnect with your innate creativity, and rediscover how good it feels to create for the process, not the product. She has been facilitating creativity workshops for wellbeing since 2011. See her art: www.brendaloukesart.com
