Community Artist extraordinaire, Amanda Callis, is one of the many champions of drawing and visual literacy for all. As with The Big Draw’s activity and annual festival, Amanda has taken the 30 day drawing challenge to heart and found it both great fun and highly stimulating.
I came across The Big Draw’s post on Facebook about the “30 Day Drawing Challenge” and thought it sounded fun! Whilst I work in the Arts and spend a good chunk of my time drawing it is rarely for myself. The fantastic thing about the challenge is whether you can draw or not it is going to push your boundaries - most people stick to drawing what they like or what they are good at drawing. The drawing challenge mixes it up as there are things on the list you wouldn’t automatically think of; some of which are completely open to interpretation such as “book” - do you take it literally or with artistic licence? I opted for a mix of the two - drawing a story leaping out from the pages of a book!
I really enjoyed the structure of coming up with a new drawing daily and simply taking time for myself by taking part in the challenge - plus seeing what others had created on social media. Not only is it fun to draw but you are stimulating your imagination as the possibilities of what you can create are endless.
Why not take the challenge? Get inspired and get drawing! Why not share your drawings on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with
