Painting and Collage
Part of NUA taster sessions. Norwich University of the Arts- St Georges
Wed 15 Nov 2pm-4pm
This is a taster session for those thinking of studying Fine Art Session Outline:
Introduction and collage.
2pm – 2.20

You will make a simple collage from 2 source images. We will discuss ways that collage has been used by contemporary and historic artists. The collage that you make will become the source image for another member of the group.

Painting 1.
2.20 – 3.10
Using the collage made by another member of your group, you will make a small-scale impasto painting using acrylic paints and acrylic structure medium. You will be encouraged to experiment with the way that you make marks on the surface.

Break.
3.10 – 3.25
We will have a quick tour of the Fine Art studios.

Painting 2.
3.25 – 4pm
You will make a second painting using a section of your first painting as new source material. This painting will be slightly larger and will have a smoother (not impasto) surface. At the end of the session we will look at your paintings and collages and discuss the way that they look and the processes that you used.
