Out of The Maze
Bethlem Museum of the Mind
Fri 27 Oct 10.30 - 16.00
Help us create a collaborative drawing that takes inspiration from artist William Kurelek's mental health journey, depicted in his painting Out of the Maze, and share your own visions of well-being. This free drop-in activity at Bethlem Museum of the Mind is part of the Big Draw Festival 2017. Be inspired by artworks like William Kurelek’s autobiographical Out of the Maze, painted twenty years after the celebrated Ukrainian-Canadian artist was admitted to the Maudsley Hospital during a period of mental ill-health. Reflecting on his journey to recovery, Kurelek depicts himself in a serene landscape against a blue sky. We invite you to add to our collaborative drawing and share what helps you find your own blue sky as we explore different visions of well-being.
