Magic Lanterns
Sir John Soane's Museum
Thu 26 Oct 11am - 3pm
Make your own Magic Lantern with spooky drawings to scare your friends this Halloween.

The Great Belzoni – the amazing man who discovered Sir John Soane’s sarcophagus - spent time as a performer before becoming an Egyptologist. He was fascinated by ‘phantasmagoria’ shows, where magic lanterns were used to cast moving images which bewitched and frightened their audience. At this drop-in workshop, you can make your own spooky Magic Lantern with a series of images for your own phantasmagoria performance.

This event is designed for adults and children to enjoy together, so all ages are welcome. We just ask that children remain supervised. It's totally free so no need to book - just drop-in at any time and stay as long as you like!
