Big Draw Prize Draw

Big Draw organisers have the chance to win five bumper watercolour sets from Daler-Rowney this month in our free prize draw. All you need do is add your event to our website by 31 May, when five lucky winners will be pulled randomly from our Big Draw hat.

Big Draw 2011 events go public on 31 May. Thousands of unique visitors click on to the events section of our website daily, so the sooner you add your event description, the longer it benefits from free publicity.

Entering an event is easy; simply login, or register for a password, and then follow the online instructions.

This year's theme is Drawing Age, but you are welcome to invent your own. We urge more organisers to focus on young people (8-18) and to enlist the support of your nearest NADFAS society (as part of their Young Arts initiative).

Another successful Awards Ceremony at The British Museum

There was a real buzz seeing people from across the world celebrating so many great events at the Drawing Inspiration Awards ceremony. Two artists flew 20,000 miles from Adelaide to collect Carclew Youth Arts Award. Other artists from award-winning organisations generously ran brilliant Little Draw activities:Glass Cannon from Hull offered animation workshops; Tony Hall from Tate Liverpool showed how you can make a nailbrush, battery and rubber band doodle, and Sarah Bridgland from ReachoutRCA invited us to turn matchboxes into mini artworks. Nick Sharratt talked inspirationally about the role of sketchbooks in his career as one of the UK's most successful illustrators.

Take a closer look with the Big Draw at the City of London Festival

The Big Draw joins forces with the Festival to present a host of free drawing activities from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 July at Great St Helen’s and Undershaft. There will be plenty for all ages in this amazing cityscape; see the Festival website for the full programme, searching under Great St Helen’s or calendar.

We are recruiting volunteers to run or support creative activities at the Festival. This will be a great learning opportunity if you are planning your first Big Draw in October. Or you may just want to help and have fun. Seasoned professionals and newbies welcome. Please contact Nick for more details.
